Raise a glass to your loved ones this Día de los Muertos with this elegant Spiced Fig Tequila Sour Cocktail. Tart and frothy with the cozy flavors of fall.
For the Spiced Fig Syrup:
2 pounds fresh, ripe figs, stemmed and halved
5 ounces piloncillo or 2/3 cup dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1/2 cup water
For the Cocktail
2 ounces Cazadores Tequila Blanco
1 ounce fresh squeezed lime juice (about 1/2 lime)
1 ounce Spiced Fig Syrup
1 egg white
Fresh fig for garnish, optional
For the Syrup:
Combine all ingredients in a large, heavy-bottom pot with a lid. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Cover and turn down to low. Cook, stirring occasionally, until piloncillo is dissolved and figs are broken down, about 10 minutes.
Uncover and cook another 10 minutes or so until syrup has thickened. Let cool and strain.
For the Cocktail:
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker full of ice. Shake vigorously for at least 10-20 seconds. Strain into a coupe, garnish with a fresh fig half if you’d like and enjoy!
Spiced Fig Syrup is great on all kinds of things from pancakes to ice cream. It will keep covered in the fridge for 1 month.
