Have 2 months gone by already? I can’t believe just a few short months ago I was working full time as a food editor at CHOW.com, living in San Francisco and now I’m a stay at home mom in Valley City, North Dakota.
I would like to say there are surprises everyday about how different my life is, and I’m sure I could find them, if I really looked. But the fact is, aside from not working outside of the home, my life is not all that different.
Sure there are things I miss about the city, the food, coffee, wine, friends, but there are a lot of things I don’t miss. My little jalapeno can walk right out the back door now, into the back yard and play in the grass. She’s not woken up in the middle of the night by fire engines or police sirens and I know the weather will turn eventually but we’ve been able to go for bike rides in the evenings without blown to bits by the wind and fog.
My main concern all along was that I would not be able to buy the groceries I needed to make a healthy, delicious meal for my family. I was wrong. My little jalapeno is almost 14 months and eats like a champ. So as long as we eat at home, everything is a okay!
