The Original Cadillac Margarita Recipe

This one's it. The only margarita recipe you will ever need. Use it to make flavored margaritas too, just substitute the agave syrup for you favorite flavored syrup.

Ingredients
  

  • fine sea salt for the glass
  • 1 lime cut in wedges
  • ice
  • 1 1/2 shots 3 ounces tequila
  • 1/2 shot 1 ounce Grand Marnier or orange liqueur
  • 1/2 shot 1 ounce agave syrup
  • 2 limes juiced

Method
 

  1. Rim the glass. Pour about 1/4 cup of salt on to a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks glass. Dip glass in salt until rim is coated with salt. Fill glass with crushed ice.
  2. Shake the margarita. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Pour tequila on the bottom, then Grand Marnier, agave syrup, and lime juice on top. Cover and shake vigorously until outside of the shaker is beaded with sweat.
  3. Cheers! Pour into prepared glass, garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy.
