This Mexican-Inspired Holiday Brunch was created in partnership with Farmer John. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that make this blog possible.
No holiday is complete without an epic brunch on Christmas morning, New Year’s Day, or whenever the morning calls to be celebrated! The scent of waffles and syrup and sausage and sweet rolls are the kind of comfort food that gets my whole crew excited. Every holiday we celebrate with at least one luxuriously long brunch and truth be told, with everyone out of school, it’s usually way more than that.

This year I’m excited to include Farmer John Bacon and Breakfast Sausage in our menu. Farmer John’s products are super fresh and sourced locally here in Southern California. Their hardwood-smoked bacon and perfectly-seasoned breakfast sausage go great with just about everything so feel free to use these brunch ideas as a jumping off point and make the holidays YOUR way with all the delicious Farmer John’s products.
Never straying too far from my style of California cooking full of Mexican flavors, I’ve created an indulgent brunch menu with lots of fun twist on old favorites. I found everything I needed to create this Mexican-inspired holiday brunch at Vallarta market—such a lifesaver to find everything in one place! A Mexican-Inspired Holiday Brunch

The two stars of our Mexican-Inspired Holiday Brunch Menu are Churro Bacon Waffles and Ponche-Braised Breakfast Sausage.
I’ve wanted to make churro waffles forever because, well, churro. waffles. But why stop there? Adding crispy Farmer John bacon to the batter seemed the next logical step, right?

The Ponche-Braised Breakfast Sausage is a combination of our family’s favorite holiday drink, Ponche Navideño or Warm Mexican Mulled Punch and savory Farmer John Breakfast Sausage. During the holidays I make batch after batch of this fruity, cinnamon-spiked hot punch. I strained the punch and reduced it to a syrup and then braised the breakfast sausage in this fruity syrup until they were golden and infused with the warm spice and fruit flavors.
To round out the menu I included a selection of my family’s favorite pan dulce sweet breads, lots of fresh fruit like juicy oranges and pomegranates, and served all of this with fresh-squeezed orange juice, hot coffee, and more of the warm Ponche Navideño. You could also include scrambled eggs, yogurt parfaits, or even homemade sweet rolls.
Hopefully this serves up some fun holiday inspiration! Happy Brunching!
