I know, I know.
I said on Wednesday that I wasn’t going to post any more apple recipes. I know.
Not really lied, just simply forgot that I had one more, one teeny-tiny appley cocktail to share with you.
One of the many, many ways I like to use up fall’s abundance of apples is to make cider. Cider is really nothing more that unfiltered apple juice. I wash a few dozen apples and cut them into small wedges then let the kids push them through the juicer with the skin and seeds and everything. The flavor of the resulting juice is pretty much October in a glass, fresh, crisp, and sweet.
If you don’t have a juicer, or a million apples you can easily make this with Farmer’s market cider—also very refreshing. Pisco is a brandy made in South America and is the perfect compliment, gentle and easy going although I will say I drank one of these after a particularly long day….and then another……and well by that time I realized I might have had one to many (whoops—now who’s going to put the kids to bed!)
Point being, they go down pretty easy, so maybe wait to have one until after you’ve taken care of that day’s business. Or on the weekend when you will have nothing but two glorious days of raking leaves and tailgating. Now there’s an opportunity to have a drink—He-llo!
